“Switch” to Microsoft?

Not switch operating systems, but switch development platforms? I must admit that the mix of rational and emotional components that goes into my love for using a Macintosh is similar in ways to how I feel about Java –but it’s not as simple as Microsoft being some “common enemy.” After all, as
Ara Abrahamian points out, the main thing that’s good about Java is the number of really excellent libraries and frameworks which have been developed and made available by the open source development community. (Not historically the case for Mac, although as I’ve pointed out, OS X does seem to be changing that a little.)
Well, now that the CLI compiles on Mac OS X, I’d probably even start playing with it, if I knew where to start. But if the CL stands for “Common Language” then shouldn’t we be able to use Java with it? Oh, forgot. Microsoft and Sun are bitter enemies.
For context, see the post by Larry O’Brien which motivated Ara’s comments.
