What an Asshole

Spotted on Del.icio.us, a Chicago Tribune story:

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Bolster Chicago’s underused Blue Bag recycling program by tying it to the tradition of feeding Christmas trees into the wood chipper. Get a year’s worth of blue bags along with some mulch.

But trust Rob Sherman, a local activist and an atheist, to raise questions. According to him, the city’s trees-for-bags swap is unfairly beneficial to Christians.

But non-Christians who own Christmas trees represent only a small minority, Sherman believes.

“The group that predominantly has Christmas trees are Christians,” he said. “No self-respecting atheist or Jew or Hindu puts up a Christmas tree in their home unless they are Christian wannabes.”

Come on. I’m no Christian, and I’m no “Christian wannabe”. We didn’t actually put up a tree this year, but we have before and we will again. Sherman doesn’t even live in Chicago!
I think everyone getting rid of their tree should drop it on this guy’s doorstep instead.
