WNUR Jazz Show, 3 February 2005

In a fit of remarkable slackitude, I’ve let a couple of weeks go buy without posting my playlists. I’m sure millions were on the edge of their seats.
I thought Joshua Abrams’ new album on Lucky Kitchen was pretty interesting. It is built up around “field recordings” made in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, elaborated with sounds, playing, and production effects. Very ambient and remote from common definitions of jazz, but worth checking out.
The a capella take of Sun Ra, from a CD associated with the Eye and Ear gallery show at Corbett vs. Dempsey is priceless. This CD is for sale at Dusty Groove.
