I happened to be taking a peak at news aggregation site Topix.net today and I stumbled upon what I’m guessing is an unfortunately gruesome outcome of some automated news slurping process.

On Topix.net, the image of the grinning tree links to a page at the Marysville/Yuba City, CA Appeal Democrat which is no longer served. Their front page shows the grinning tree accompanying a blurb for a story which will run tomorrow: “In Yu ba[sic] & Sutter Homes,
a well-trimmed tree is a heathy tree to have around your home.”

I can no longer even find the referenced story by searching the A-D’s site, probably because the story has evolved into an even more fatal event, with more current reports indicating that 40 or more have died.

Unless that image is actually part of a report that the plane was brought down by ents in the Hungarian wilderness beginning their revolt against mechanized society.
