I’ve been a volunteer DJ at WNUR for… hm, more than a third of my life. I’ve been back on the air for coming on two years after a bit of time off after I left the University, and getting back on has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself in a long time. People think I’m weird for waking up before 4 AM once a week to do the show, but I love the opportunity to dig through the library and hear all kinds of music, and I love the opportunity to share that music with anyone who cares to listen.

As noted, my DJ position is volunteer, as are all the positions. But it still costs money to run a station, keeping the signal on the air and all the equipment running. So once a year we ask our listeners to support the programming they love with actual monetary donations.
So that time is here again. If you’re a listener, please consider making a donation. You can find out more at WNUR’s Phoneathon page, and you can browse a pretty remarkable list of premiums which we are giving as a gift in gratitude to donors. The new WNUR t-shirt’s are pretty spiffy (two-sided for the first time in several years, the design accompanies this posting.)
