The archive is back! As noted in on-air commentary, this show was a response to criticism that I start off too slowly in the morning, so I hit with a peppy number from Benin-born trumpter Ignace de Souza, and I think managed to keep up the tempo pretty well throughout. This was my first chance to get my hands on new albums from two of my favorite bassist-composers, Dave Holland and Mario Pavone. I liked the tunes from those albums and look forward to checking them out further. And, of course, there’s the William Parker Quartet album, which I’ve had for a few weeks now, but which is really excellent.
