WNUR Conference of the Birds, 2010-05-18

“Conference of the Birds” is my weekly radio program on WNUR-FM. It airs on Tuesdays from 5-7:30 am Chicago time (UTC-6). And, of course, when technology cooperates, you can just come here for the archives.

I guess I surprised myself a little with the start of this week’s show, especially the James Chance/Bauhaus pairing. Both tunes I love but stuff I might sometimes think “doesn’t fit” on Conference of the Birds.  But today they seemed necessary, especially since the lyrics to St. Vitus Dance have been stuck in my head for a few days…

Warning for the delicate: the first track features “foul language.” Sung by a children’s chorus, no less! “If they push that button, your ass got to go. What you gonna do without your ass?” Really, quite a fair question.

Thanks to the caller who asked for more samba, and the IM contact who appreciated Bob Wills! You too can call or IM during the show, or leave comments here, or via twitter.
