WNUR Conference of the Birds, 2010-09-21

“Conference of the Birds” is my weekly radio program on WNUR-FM. It airs on Tuesdays from 5-7:30 am Chicago time (UTC-5). And, of course, when technology cooperates, you can just come here for the archives. You can subscribe to the podcast with this URL. You can also see one jumbo list of my past playlists (back to 9/2008 when WNUR started online playlists), for easier searching.

Extremely eclectic show today, starting with some of the most fundamentally eclectic music I know (and in the case of Laurie Anderson, something deep in my musical DNA.) I definitely surprised myself with a couple of things, but good times nonetheless.

To clarify one thing from the show, El Kinto are definitely from Uruguay.

WNUR Conference of the Birds, 2010-09-14

“Conference of the Birds” is my weekly radio program on WNUR-FM. It airs on Tuesdays from 5-7:30 am Chicago time (UTC-5). And, of course, when technology cooperates, you can just come here for the archives.

Three kinds of “Let My People Go,” plus “Sittin’ On Top of the World” two different ways, some songs about bad driving, and plenty more.  You can download MP3s of Hammadi ould Nana for yourself (among lots more) at the African Music Treasures blog run by the Voice of America. The podcast fades out before the last song, because I went a little long waiting for my replacement.
